Minecraft is one of the most popular video games in the world. There seems to be no limit to what players can explore, build, and create in this sandbox style game. But before there were tens of thousands of mods and hundreds of millions of users, something special happened. On Saturday 29th, September 2012 at 10:24:47 AM, a group of dedicated fans with a shared love of Eragon created a new server and began building a life-size replica of Alagaësia in Minecraft. Now, whether or not you play, you can join Christopher Paolini as he tours this magical world!
Building Alagaësia
If you’re unfamiliar with Minecraft, it may be difficult to understand the time and effort involved in creating a server of this size. After all, Alagaësia is no Rhode Island but a large continent, and these incredible fans have taken the time to include places rarely mentioned in the books. They’ve built out every village, furnished homes with washrooms, and filled basements with bookshelves. From the highest mountain peak to the depths of dwarven villages, the attention to detail is truly awe inspiring. With such an incredible amount of love poured into every block, one could easily spend hours exploring. In fact, Christopher’s video tour was originally over 3 hours long! With the tour edited down to about 40 minutes, it’s the perfect way for gamers and nongamers alike to experience Alagaësia in Minecraft.
Where in the World Is Christopher?
